Air Transportation

Fly into Cancun International Airport. Flights are not included in the retreat package.
As you choose your flight, please remember that check in time is approximately 3pm on Saturdays and check out is on the following Saturday at 10am. Shambala Petit only has rooms during the retreat – Saturday to Saturday and not immediately before or after.
It will take approximately 1 hour & 45 minutes from the airport to the Shambala Petit in Tulum, Mexico.
Shuttle Reservations

Arriving: Please book your own shuttle, van or taxi going from Cancun International Airport to Shambala Petit Hotel. Prices will range between $50-$100 for private or semi private transportation.
Departing: There is a free shuttle leaving Shambala Petit going to Cancun International Airport on Saturday April 13th, 2019 at 10:00am.

No worries, you’re in great hands. Jessica’s Team will take great care of you, the friendly and experienced staff at Shambala Petit will as well. Shambala Petit is an one of a kind facility that was built for yoga and meditative retreats. It’s such a comfortable, beautiful and magical place we keep returning there! It’s breathtaking! Actually, you’ll probably fall in love as we did!
Packing List

Casual cool comfortable clothing (It’s a very casual place. It will be in the 80’s-90’s during the day and high 70s at night. Wear what you feel good in….If you want to wear a dress at dinner- go for it. If you want to wear your yoga clothes all the time- go for it. Even sarongs/covers over your suits are seen in the dining hall. )
Yoga & athletic clothing
Sunscreen, sun glasses and hat
Old running shoes (they may get dirty or wet on some excursions you may pick.)
Water shoes (Depending on the tide….parts of the beach have flat rocks that you may have to go over if walking into town.)
Journal
Reusable water bottle (the water is safe at the resort and they also provide a water dispenser outside our yoga studio)

Yoga mat (My favorite is the brand- Jade Yoga Mat). Shambala Petit does not have yoga mats available.

Shambala Petit is a gorgeous highly energetic place on the southern coast of Tulum. The pristine white sand beach and blue water will be your home for the week!
Random TIPS
Arriving
Getting off the plane, go through immigration, use the restroom, hit the ATM to get local currency, collect your bags and head for the exit. Once outside you’ll find your transportation. They will take good care of you and your luggage. They will usually stop at a gas station during the drive for passengers to get snacks & drinks.
Toiletries
Please bring your own skincare, haircare and body care with you. During the retreat you may consider wearing little to no makeup and letting your hair be natural!
Cash
You don’t need much of local money unless you plan a lot of outings into town, cab ride to get there or on excursions and for one dinner out. Some of the restaurants take credit cards, pesos and American dollars. There is no ATM on site, but you can ask your taxi driver to stop at the bank in town.
Excursions
There’s much fun to be had in Tulum! During the retreat you will have a day off to go on some fun excursions of your choice. If you would like to do an excursive please contact the front desk at Shambala when you arrive or anytime thereafter. Excursions are usually available up to 24 hours before the scheduled trip.

Citizen of the US, Canada, and Europe may enter Mexico with a passport that remains valid at least 6 months after your travel date. Identification such as a driver’s license or birth certificate is no longer valid for travel to Mexico. If your passport expires less than 6 months from the date of travel you will NOT be allowed onto your flight! So, please check your passport asap!
A valid passport allows Canadian, American, as well as most Latin American, and European citizens to stay for up to 90 days. Citizens of other countries may require a visa to enter Costa Rica.
Before you go to Tulum, Mexico, please make a copy of your passport. You should leave your original passport in the safety box at Shambala Petit Hotel.

All meals are served in the Dining Hall, starting with dinner on arrival day and breakfast on departure day. Lunch is not served on departure day.

English-speaking doctors have offices located 15 minutes from Shambala, along with dentists.
There are no shots or immunizations required to come to Mexico.

WiFi: Wireless Internet is available at no cost and can be accessed via personal laptops for use of E-mail, Skype, or any Internet-phone calls. Please, note that Shambala Petit does not guarantee connection to all types of laptop computers and does not provide a technician for WiFi access.
For reasons of fire safety we don’t allow any candle or incense burning in any of the accommodations. We do allow the burning of candles and incense for ritual or teaching purposes in the classrooms, however, only if the flame is attended to at all times.
Each room is provided with a safety box at no charge. The safety box is big enough to hold a laptop. Shambala Petit & Jessica Smith are not responsible for any stolen personal belongings on the premises.
Shambala charges a $25 fee for lost or non-returned room keys.
Tulum, Mexico is on Central Standard Time.
Don’t forget to pack: Yoga mat, beach towel, Camera, batteries, charger, alarm clock, sunscreen, sun hat, bathing suit, water bottle, natural bug repellent, your special medication, hiking sandals, and a flashlight.
Should you forget essential items at home or are looking for some snack foods, books to read, gift items, clothing, or souvenirs….there are little shops close by for you to purchase goods.
